India Vs Australia Matches

Date:

These two teams have met in many memorable Test matches and their rivalry has long been one of the main draws for cricket fans. Additionally, there have been multiple incidents and scandals involving these two squads which have only added more excitement and drama to every match played between them.

India are riding high after their impressive win against Bangladesh while Australia are still recovering from their shocking 21-run defeat at Afghanistan.

India vs Australia 1st Test

India outclassed Australia with an outstanding all-round performance to win the opening Test match and take a 1-0 advantage in their four-Test series. Rohit Sharma led by example with an explosive ton, well supported by Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel – while Todd Murphy took 7/124 on debut for Australia – an intriguing prospect in future Test matches.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, India began well with an opening stand between Sehwag and Chopra that put on 177 runs, but once both fell, everything quickly unravelled; Laxman and Ganguly fell short of half centuries while Sehwag hit 241 not out to help bring India up to 705-7 declared.

India’s bowlers had done well to restrict Australia on day 2, with Ravichandran Ashwin taking 5/36. But Smith managed a brilliant century, while Labuschagne kept Australia competitive by her determined batting.

India were in danger of losing the match when they fell to 2/24 at half-time in their reply, but Sehwag and Pathan used a 131-run partnership between them to turn things around and eventually win by an innings score of 213. Harbhajan led India’s bowling attack with 7-7-3 figures.

On the final day, India looked to wrap up their victory and ensure they don’t suffer further damage. Pathan made his comeback count as he dismissed Symonds and Gilchrist before the tail completed their work to secure victory for India. Australia were concerned only when Navdeep Saini left with a groin injury which had to be managed at some point during play.

India won by an innings and 132 runs thanks to late wickets by India – marking their biggest ever win ever in this format. India are on course for their record ninth series win against Australia; their next match starts Thursday when both teams return for another Test in Delhi; Australia must improve drastically if they wish to avoid an embarrassing whitewash scenario; given their poor form so far this series, this seems unlikely.

India vs Australia 2nd Test

On Friday, India and Australia are scheduled to engage in their second Test match at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. India won the initial encounter by an impressive margin of 337 runs and will aim to retain their Border-Gavaskar Trophy a third consecutive time. India may benefit from Rahul Dravid returning and providing much needed batting experience.

India won the toss and elected to bat, with Jaffer and Sehwag making an excellent start with over 100 runs added by their openers Jaffer and Sehwag. However, India’s middle order slipped away quickly before their innings was saved by Symonds-Gilchrist’s century partnership and then by pacers Ravichandran Ashwin who picked up five wickets to give India an outstanding 118 run lead at one stage.

Australia struggled to maintain their run rate during their reply and lost wickets regularly – only the 10th innings ever in which Australia were dismissed for under 400 runs.

After tea, they were in a strong position, yet pressure was mounting and a draw seemed imminent – yet, after taking a short break after tea they failed to bat for more than four overs in response.

India quickly established itself with disciplined bowling and an aggressive batting display from Kohli, Pujara, and Rahul who all contributed significantly to India’s total score.

After India declared, however, a collapse occurred almost instantly. Ajikya Rahane fell victim to David Warner’s brilliant catch, leading to middle order collapse that left Australia reduced to 131/9.

On the final day, Indian bowlers took control of proceedings, taking wicket after wicket with ease and Rohit Sharma becoming another victim of India’s bowlers’ dominance despite scoring an excellent 81 not out to seal India’s third consecutive win against Australia and seal this series 2-0.

India vs Australia 3rd Test

After being heavily criticised by media after suffering heavy defeats at Delhi and Nagpur, Australia regained some dignity by winning in Indore thanks to some outstanding performances by Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, and Nathan Lyon. Their combined attack ripped through India’s middle and lower order to give Australia back some pride in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy competition.

Rain had previously dashed India’s hopes of amassing a big total, but in the second half Pujara struck gold, scoring an unbeaten 151 not out before eventually being dismissed by Hazlewood but not before sharing an astonishing 212-run partnership with Vihari, who initially looked tentative but soon got his eye in and achieved 50 off just 97 balls!

At the outset of their new ball innings, the tourists quickly lost Warner. A patient and composed comeback led by debutants Will Pucovski and Marnus Labuschagne ensued as they gradually built an impressive lead before speeding up their run-chase despite losing Smith in the process; eventually reaching 312 with only 76 runs needed for victory.

Australia completed their victory with a nine-wicket victory and retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Labuschagne and Head made sure of that with some magnificent batting from both of them that showed they wanted to avenge themselves for defeats suffered in Delhi and Nagpur.

As Labuschagne moves to 61, he plays Ravi Ashwin’s final delivery with soft hands as he attempts to hit it over long on, but misses by some distance. Soon afterwards he hits one off the next ball as Australians rush towards an easy victory.

India vs Australia 4th Test

Australia will look to put things right after their loss in Delhi by winning the fourth Test match at Brisbane’s Gabba, for which they will return after over thirty years of absence.

On Thursday, both teams will contest the fourth Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series and attempt to take home its trophy. Both sides have already taken two victories; therefore whoever prevails here will claim ultimate victory and claim victory over this series.

India won the toss and elected to bat. Their batsmen performed admirably, amassing 330 runs for just four wickets lost; Sehwag had his highest score in this series while Rahul and Jadeja made important contributions as well. Pathan’s return had an instantaneous impact by dismissing both Australian openers.

Indian bowlers dominated in the second innings, starting off with Harbhajan taking three early wickets before Tendulkar was removed by Harbhajan’s bowling. Symonds and Gilchrist then combined for an astonishing century partnership of their own to push Australia up to 212 all out; giving the Indians an advantage of 118 runs over Australia.

On the third day, Indian bowlers continued their dominance. Harbhajan again took out Smith before Jadeja claimed another scalp before Pathan took out Australia for 340.

The fourth test will kick off Thursday at 9:30 AM IST. Players will assemble on the field before national anthems of both countries are played to signal play to begin.
