Dwayne Bravo Leaves CSK to Become an Adviser For The KKR IPL 2025 Team

Date:

Dwayne Bravo, a former all-around player for the West Indies, has concluded his illustrious career at Chennai Super Kings, where he participated in four IPL titles in various capacities. Starting in the 2025 season, he became a mentor for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the reigning champions.

Bravo recently spoke with KKR CEO Venky Mysore during the CPL before agreeing to a long-term contract. In addition to KKR, he will oversee the Trinbago Knight Riders (CPL), Los Angeles Knight Riders (MLC), and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ILT20)—all teams in the T20 competitions that have the Knight Riders name.

“DJ Bravo joining us is an exciting development, ” Mysore stated in a statement. His unwavering will to succeed, extensive experience, and profound knowledge will significantly benefit our franchise and players.”

Bravo, who turns 41 in October, takes over as India’s head coach from Gautam Gambhir, who was instrumental in KKR’s 2024 IPL championship victory. Bravo had given up all cricket a day before the announcement.

In addition to Gambhir, KKR lost Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate, their assistant coaches, who were both assigned positions in India’s support staff. Chandrakant Pandit will lead KKR as head coach, while Bharat Arun will oversee bowling operations.

“I’ve played in the CPL for the last ten years with the Trinbago Knight Riders. I have a great deal of respect for how the Knight Riders run their business, having played both for and against them in different competitions,” Bravo stated.

It’s a unique venue because of the founders’ enthusiasm, the management’s expertise, and the cozy, familial atmosphere. As I go from being a player to a coach and guide to the players of tomorrow, this is the ideal platform for me.”

Bravo’s second IPL team management role is as a mentor with KKR. He began playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2011, leaving the team to become bowling coach in 2023.

Bravo, who won three titles as a player for CSK, was successful right away in his first coaching position when the team won the title in 2023.

Bravo, the third-highest wicket-taker in IPL history and the first player to win two purple caps in the competition, is one of the best death bowlers in T20 cricket. To learn more cricket news, betpro is online.

Bravo has played in more than 500 Twenty20 matches, and peers and players rank him as one of the top motivators and strategists—qualities that helped propel him to the West Indies captaincy.

After the 2021 T20 World Cup, he retired from international cricket. He continued to play in T20 leagues, for TKR in the CPL, Texas Super Kings in the MLC, and Mumbai Emirates in the ILT20, although he eventually turned his attention to teaching.

Bravo was an invaluable consulting coach for Afghanistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup, helping the team advance to the semi-finals for the first time in their history.
